Lantern's Edge | About Us | Plant Nursery | Vedder Invasives | Garden Services | Contact |
We know this land has been home to many people, plants and animals before us. Our work
takes place on the unceded traditional territory of the Ts’elxwéyeqw tribe of the Stó:lō
people. We work to protect the ecological bounty this land holds for future generations.
Lantern's Edge is our home and property on the Vedder River in Chilliwack. We don't own it
but we treat it like it's ours, fixing it up over time and restoring the gardens. With forest on
one side and the river on the other, we are lucky to live surrounded by nature, with eagles,
hummingbirds, deer, snakes, bobcats and the occasional black bear passing through. Using this
as inspiration, we grow native plants and other perennials in our small backyard nursery, and
help restore the adjacent forest by controlling invasive species, replanting with native
plants, and picking up garbage.
Cam is our head gardener. Cam found Lantern's Edge and moved to Chilliwack in 2018 after a
renoviction in Vancouver, and they've been working since then restoring the house, property
and surrounding lands. Cam has been gardening and exploring forests for over 25 years.
Basil is our head talker. Basil handles our marketing and outreach, working to connect with
the community around the importance of native plants and habitat restoration. Basil loves travel,
books and local theatre.
Kodos is our chief morale officer and has been supervising us since joining our team with his
late brother Kang in 2023. Kodos is a good teacher, and reminds us to take the occasional
break to play and rest.
